Republic of South Sudan
Growing together,
harvesting prosperity.
Simon and Sons Cooperative Society helps members across South Sudan — smallholder farmers, traders, artisans, and small business owners — save together, access fair credit, and build stronger livelihoods, on and off the farm.
Who we are
Built by a farming family, grown into a nationwide SACCO.
Simon and Sons Cooperative Society is named for Simon, the family patriarch, but it was his son, Hon. Akol Wol Mawien, who founded the cooperative — starting from a simple idea: members do better when they save, borrow, and sell together instead of alone. What began with one family's effort has grown into a member-run savings and credit cooperative (SACCO) serving a growing membership across South Sudan.
Today, our membership reaches well beyond the farm gate. Alongside smallholder farmers, we support small traders, shop owners, artisans, food processors, and other entrepreneurs who need a reliable place to save, borrow, and grow. We are not a bank and we are not middlemen — every member has a voice, every contribution stays within the cooperative, and every service is shaped around how our members actually earn their living, whether that's a planting season or a market stall.
Integrity
Transparent books, open meetings, shared decisions.
Self-reliance
Members build their own safety net, deal by deal.
Fair Value
Better prices and fairer terms, farm or business.
How membership works
One cooperative, one shared cycle.
Whether income comes from a harvest or a shop counter, support follows the same rhythm: save, access credit, grow, repay.
Save
Members contribute regular savings into a shared fund, building the pool the cooperative lends from — whatever their trade.
Access credit & support
Members borrow affordably for seed and farm inputs, or for stock, equipment, and working capital for a small business.
Grow & sell
Farming members market their harvest through the cooperative; business members grow sales with our support.
Repay & reinvest
Loans are repaid, savings grow, and surplus is reinvested — into the next season or the next business opportunity.
What we offer
Four ways we support our members.
Every service exists because members asked for it — built around how our members actually earn a living, on the farm or in business.
Savings
Simple, regular group savings that members can rely on and track together, with no hidden charges — for farming and business income alike.
Credit & loans
Fair, flexible loans for seed and farm inputs, or for stock, equipment, and working capital, sized to what each member can realistically repay.
Inputs & business supplies
Farm inputs, tools, business stock, and basic equipment sourced together in bulk, so members — farmers and entrepreneurs alike — pay less.
Market access & enterprise support
From bulking and marketing members' harvests to connecting small business owners with customers and suppliers — we help members sell more, together.
